Cobalt Alloy 6B is an alloy formulated of Nickel, Chromium and Iron with extension of Molybdenum, Copper and Titanium. The alloy invented to contribute exceptional resistance to many corrosive environments and reducing environments that acquire sulphuric acid and phosphoric acid. The nickel content in the alloy is acceptable for the resistance to chloride ion and stress corrosion cracking. The alloy has exceptional anti- oxidation and non-oxidizing heat acid performance. The titanium content in the alloy sustains to resists intergranular attack after fabrication and pitting. The alloy has good welability by all conventional mechanism.

Cobalt alloy 6b / Stellite 6b is a cobalt-based, chromium-tungsten alloy used extensively in wear environments where its low friction coefficient minimises the risk of seizing and galling, even in applications where lubrication is not practical. Stellite 6b is supplied in the solution treated condition (to AMS 5894) and its wear resistant properties inherent in this state limit the amount of heat treating and post machining.
